We are going to use that money for our cheerleaders and put it into their cheer camp. We want to thank SPC also for the scholarship for Mikaela. Great things are happening here in Brownfield. "
In the finals, Brownfield had 36% of the vote to edge out Cotton Center with 28%, Shallowater with 22% and Roosevelt with 14% Mikaela says it still hasn't sunk in that she won the contest and it was overwhelming to be honored in front of the whole school at Friday's pep rally.
"It was amazing. That's the biggest trophy I have. It's an honor that people voted for me. That gives money my parents won't have to pay now for college."
Mikaela grew up wanting to be Mr. Cub. Her mom Mitzi was Mr. Cub when she was in High School. Now a Mascot Mania Champion, Mikaela hopes to keep Mr. Cub in the family in the future.
"It's tradition. Maybe my daughter will do it or my son and keep on going."
Congrats to Mr. Cub for winning Mascot Mania brought to you by South Plains College and Fuddruckers. In September, it will be back to Cheer Championship for area schools to vote on.
