LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - It looks like a change is coming to the Lubbock municipal judge's office for the first time since 1998.
Jorge Hernandez announced this afternoon that he is running for the office to replace current Municipal Court Judge Bob Doty who is not running for re-election.
Hernandez says while he is the only candidate who has filed for the seat, he believes his experience makes him the best choice, no matter what.
"I've been doing the magistration for over 12 years. I've been an associate judge handling the juvenile docket - and non-jury and jury trials for the past four years and i am now the senior associate judge," said Hernandez.
Hernandez says his experience means there won't be a learning curve for the voters to worry about, if he is elected to office.
The last day to file is February 19 and the election will be held on May 7.
