Grad student injured in 'minor explosion' at TTU Chemistry building

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A graduate student suffered injuries in a "minor explosion" at the Texas Tech Chemistry building on Thursday afternoon.

TTU representatives say a small chemical reaction led to the student suffering minor cuts and abrasions. The student took a safety shower and is being taken to the hospital as a precaution.

TTU Twitter referred to the incident as a "minor explosion."

Lubbock Fire Rescue dispatched a hazmat team to the building at 3:45 p.m.
