LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - Monday morning, Lubbock County Commissioners approved the sale of fireworks for Memorial Day weekend.
State lawmakers approved the expansion of firework sales during their last session. But, county governments must give permission.
Sales are allowed starting on the Wednesday before Memorial Day, and continue through midnight on the holiday.
State lawmakers also approved additional fireworks sales for Texas Independence Day (March 2) and San Jacinto Day (April 21). Before the change, Texans could only buy fireworks leading up to the 4th of July, New Year's Eve, and along the border only, Cinco de Mayo.
