LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Are you struggling with a diabetes diagnosis in the family?
You could get a lot of answers this afternoon at the Science Spectrum on Saturday, May 21st.
Jim Powell, a former chaplain at Covenant Children's Hospital and a diabetes patient himself, will be there to speak to parents from 2:30 to 4:30. Children and teens will be able to attend the movie, National Parks Adventure, and be with educated chaperones while the adults visit with Jim.
Snacks will be provided too.
Jim learned he had diabetes at age 11. As a professional counselor and a compassionate chaplain, he has some good advice for parents facing the challenges that come with this diagnosis.
The program is provided by the American Diabetes Association and is FREE to families with children and teens with diabetes.
