LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A special event is happening this weekend at the Special Wings Museum.
The museum will commemorate the 72nd anniversary of D-Day with a free two-day event honoring the great sacrifice made by the Allied forces on the shores of Normandy, France.
The event runs from June 4th through the 6th.
Included in the free event are special exhibits of historically significant aircraft, vintage military vehicles, children's activities and a USO show presented by Lubbock Moonlight Directions, a youth ensemble showcasing the talent within the Lubbock Moonlight Musicals company.
On June 4th and 5th, the museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Monday, it will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The highlight of Saturday is a USO themed show.
Lubbock Moonlight Directions will perform a Bob Hope radio show complete with vintage clothing and an actual wartime uniform. They will be accompanied by a big band called, Finessence.
The Silent Wings Museum is located at 6202 North I-27 in Lubbock.
