LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Unified Juneteenth commission of Lubbock is preparing for its annual Juneteenth celebration.
The celebration commemorates the day slavery ended here in Texas.
The schedule of events was announced Monday evening.
The week starts off on Thursday, June 16th with a reception. There will also be a knowledge bowl and a senior breakfast.
The celebration will be capped off on Sunday the 17th, with a gospel celebration at Mae Simmons Park.
