LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock mother is behind bars after police say she left her 3-year-old child alone, surrounded by feces and broken glass for hours while she was at work.
Lubbock police came to the house in the 2600 block of Avenue L around 4 p.m. in response to the alarm going off and discovered a young child inside.
They made several attempts to get an adult to come to the door. When no one responded they became concerned that something had happened to the child's caregiver and forced entry.
The mother arrived during the investigation and told police the child had been alone since approximately noon when she left for work.
CPS took custody of the child and the mother, 30-year-old Jerusalem Rodriquez was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center.
