LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Two city workers are now home and recovering after they were hit by a pickup at 34th and Indiana.
Crews were in that area working to repair a broken water line around 5 p.m. Tuesday when the accident happened.
Police tell us a black Chevy pickup was traveling southbound and was turning east when it collided with the left rear corner of a dark gray Chevy pickup headed northbound.
This caused the gray pickup to slide sideways and strike two workers who were standing by a backhoe, pushing one worker into a hole while the other was pushed to the side.
The tires of the gray pickup ended up hanging down into the hole, creating a very dangerous situation for the worker who had fallen inside.
One worker was transported by EMS. He suffered moderate injuries.
The City of Lubbock is advising drivers to avoid the area and find alternate routes.
