LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - For area cotton farmers, time is running out to plant their crops, and the rain isn't helping.

In Bailey and Lamb Counties, the deadline has already passed.

For areas around Lubbock, the deadline in Sunday.

And, near Lamesa, the deadline in June 10th.

Snyder, and areas west have until June 20th.

Farmers must plant cotton crops by these deadlines to be eligible for crop insurance.

Plains Cotton Growers estimates that 65 to 70-percent of crops have been planted in the 41-counties they serve.
