LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A man is behind bars after he lead police on car chase and allegedly hit an officer with a liquor bottle.
A Lubbock police officer attempted to stop a car driving in the 3800 block of North I-27 around 10:40 p.m. Thursday. As the officer got out of his patrol car, the car sped off.
The officer chased the vehicle but called off the chase once the suspect drove outside the city limits.
Police looked up the registration for the vehicle and located it at a home in the 1500 block of Cesar Chavez Drive. Police found the car parked in the driveway and the suspect sitting in the passenger seat.
When an officer attempted to take the suspect into custody, the suspect reportedly struck the officer with a liquor bottle.
The suspect, 28-year-old Isaac Hinry Loya, was arrested and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center. Loya was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant, evading arrest in a vehicle, reckless driving and several other charges.
