LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - In District One, Juan Chadis won the Lubbock City Council seat with 64% of the vote. While his opponent, Frank Gutierrez had 36%. Chadis will fill the unexpired term of Victor Hernandez, who ran for mayor, but lost.
When asked about who he wanted to thank for the success of his campaign, Chadis told us he couldn't have done it not only without the support of the voters, but also the support of his family.
"I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart. And I promise to do the best job that I can and I want to make mention of my wife, Sandra Cantu Chadis, she's very responsible for this also, because, without her support this would have never happened."
Chadis said he also wants to implement something new when he takes office in July.
"Top three priorities – the budget, the city manager, beautification of downtown, and the absentee landlord issues that were talked about through the entire campaign.Neighborhood development will be addressed by the 12 leaders of this district that I am about to identify. We'll be having round table discussions, and we'll come up with a viable plan for bringing more businesses to this district."
