LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Vaccinations are not just for kids.

I'm sure you've seen the commercials with Terry Bradshaw moaning about how miserable it is to get shingles.

That vaccine and many others are available to adults at a free clinic coming up for those who are uninsured.

The Texas Tech Family Medicine Department, in conjunction with the Lubbock Health Department, will host a weekly clinic in Lubbock for preventive care. That is an urgent care clinic, providing free basic health care for the uninsured, working poor and homeless population of Lubbock. It operates every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

But the special monthly immunization clinic runs from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month.

It is available to adults between the ages of 19 and 64.

The next one is coming up, set for Wednesday, July 20.

The project is operated by Texas Tech Medical students.

Dr. Fiona Prabhu in the Department of Family Medicine says students at the clinic are always closely supervised by doctors from the school of medicine.

You do not need an appointment to attend the clinic, but please bring immunization records, if possible.

You'll find Lubbock Impact at 2707 34th Street.
