LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A 14-year-old Lubbock girl is safe at home after a kidnapping attempt early Sunday morning.

Lubbock police say the victim met two suspects on social media and agreed to be picked up and taken to a local park.

But when they drove past the park, she asked several times to be let out of the vehicle. The suspects refused. The victim texted her mother and tried to exit the vehicle at 66th & Avenue W. Police were called around 4:30 a.m.

The suspects tried to pull her back but she was able to escape. Officers were able to identify one of the suspects but neither one has been located as of Sunday evening.

Police are looking for two Hispanic males, one believed to be a juvenile, the other approximately 21 years old. They were last seen fleeing in a gray two-door passenger car.

The girl's mother and sister called KCBD on Sunday evening to add details to the initial police report. They say the girl did not have permission to go with the two men and had just gone to talk with a friend who was sitting in the car.

They say the 16-year-old boy in the car was not just a Facebook friend, but had been to the house before. They say the 21-year-old was in the driver's seat and told the girl he was just going to pull the car up a little when they took off.

The girl's sister says the car was driving erratically with its lights off.

Adult guests and family members were lingering outside around 4 a.m. after a birthday party. The girl's sister was outside and went inside to get her mother when she saw the car drive off.

They contacted 911 when the 14-year-old told them she wasn't being allowed to leave the car.
