Lubbock Chamber supports LISD Tax Ratification Election
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - On Tuesday, Aug. 16 the final forum for Lubbock ISD's tax ratification election will be held at the Coronado High School cafeteria at 6 p.m. The district wants to shift two cents from the debt service tax rate to the maintenance and operations tax rate.
The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce endorsed their support for the proposal on Monday.
Chamber member Ryan Curry, who is also president and CEO of the local company - TXP Capital, says this is a must for the district to move forward.
"What they were using three years ago may not be relevant anymore, or may need a new technology to teach it on. So it's important to be able to give our kids the same benefit that a brand new school would," said Curry.
Lubbock ISD Superintendent Dr. Berhl Robertson will discuss the election and answer any questions from attendees starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16 at the Coronado High School Cafeteria.
Early voting begins this Thursday and Election Day for the LISD proposal is August 30th.
