LYNN COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - The Lynn County Sheriff's Office tells KCBD that Ismael Ramirez Reyes, 41, is back in the Lynn County Jail after escaping on Thursday night.
Reyes was apprehended in Roosevelt County, NM, sometime Friday. Lynn County Sheriff Jerry Franklin tells us Reyes tried to break into a dairy facility near Portales and was held at gunpoint by the owner until authorities arrived.
The Lynn County Sheriff's Office is still investigating how exactly Reyes was able to escape.
Officials say they believe that 41-year-old Ismael Ramirez Reyes, of Muleshoe, escaped from the jail between late Thursday night and early Friday morning.
Deputies discovered Reyes was missing from his cell at 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Officials say a vehicle that was last seen around 11 p.m. Thursday near the sheriff's office was stolen. The vehicle was recovered in Matador.
Deputies believe Reyes took the vehicle when he escaped the jail.
Deputies are still investigating how Reyes was able to escape.
Reyes is described as a Hispanic male, 5'8", 165 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. Reyes was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit.
Reyes was in jail for several charges including evading arrest, unauthorized use of a vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
