LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - Two people were killed in an early morning accident in far east Lubbock County on Highway 62/82.

DPS tells us the driver of a Mustang lost control after going off the road, ending up in a field around 4:30 a.m.

The two occupants got out of the car to get their dog who had gotten out. While they were walking on Highway 62/82 a passing motorist driving a Kia in the righthand lane did not see the people walking and hit the pedestrians, killing them both. The dog was not hit.

The other pedestrian has been identified as Joaquin T. Saloma, 30 of Shallowater.

The dog was seen by witnesses and captured to get it off the road.
