Lubbock businessman Skeet Noret passes away

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Longtime Lubbock businessman Skeet Noret passed away Wednesday at his home at the age of 94.

Skeet was a lifelong theater owner with theaters in Texas and New Mexico and He had an affinity for drive in theaters. He built one in Midland and another in Lamesa. He and his wife Sarah created the famous Chihuahua sandwich, known to anyone who has visited a West Texas Drive-In theater.

Most recently he partnered to open Premiere Cinemas at the South Plains Mall.

Skeet owned the Winchester and Cinema West in Lubbock, which were great movie palaces of their day. He also owned Showplace Theatres, and had locations from Austin to Roswell.

Skeet's grandson Ryan owns Stars and Stripes Drive-In in north Lubbock. His granddaughter Amanda is an actress and starred in "Veronica Mars" and other films.

The family suggests memorials for Skeet can be made by donating to the Variety Children's Charity of Texas at www.varietytexas.org.
