LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Across the South Plains, weather patterns are changing.

The first part of Wednesday will be warm and humid with some light showers possible west of Lubbock. Storm chances increase later in the afternoon and evening as a strong disturbance and cold front makes its way across the area; some of the storms could become somewhat severe, the main risks being hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph. Storm chances will be highest between 3 and 11 p.m.

After the cold front passes in the evening, lingering rain showers could remain overnight through Thursday. Some of the rainfall could become locally heavy. Temperature highs warm into the 70s followed by cooler temperatures in the 50s overnight.

Thursday will be much cooler with rain chances and colder daytime highs in the 50s and 60s. Rain chances will continue through the weekend and could possibly impact the Texas/Texas Tech game Saturday morning.
