LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Did you know that nearly 500 Snowflake Babies have been born to adoptive parents?

When couples use in vitro fertilization to achieve pregnancy, they will often have embryos remaining after they complete their family.

There are over a million embryos in frozen storage in the United States.

1,100 families have donated  their remaining embryos after completing their families, to help other couples start families of their own.

It's called Snowflake Embryo Adoption program and Donation.

The adopting family is able to use the donated embryos to achieve a pregnancy and give birth to their adopted child.
