LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A number of cotton modules in south Lubbock are still smoldering after having ignited around 12 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29. Woodrow volunteer firefighters responded to reports of the first fire in a field near 105th Street and Avenue P just after midnight.
After subduing the initial blaze, fire crews were called back roughly three hours later in response to another module fire.
In the interest of safety and resource conservation, the Lubbock Cotton Growers are shifting their remaining modules to a location a safe distance from the other modules.
As of press time, the cause of the fires has not been determined.
