Plains ISD students shine in State UIL competition

Plains ISD is excited to announce that the following results from the State UIL competition and the State TMSCA Middle School Competition.

State UIL Academic Meet results:

  • Bryce McWhirter placed 5th in Calculator Applications
  • The Calculator Applications Team placed 4th – comprised of Brynne McWhirter, Brea McWhirter, Bryce McWhirter, and Myra Martinez
  • Kennedy Earnest placed 6th in Headline Writing
  • Kaetlin Taylor placed 5th in News Writing
  • Kennedy Earnest and Jaicee Saxon were state finalists in the Barbara Jordan Essay contest.

Calculator Applications was coached by Robert Hernandez and Journalism events were coached by Jolene Taylor.

State TMSCA Middle School results:

  • Lavelle Barrera placed 21st in both Mathematics and Number Sense
  • Kate Franklin placed 10th in Calculator Applications
  • Carson Earnest placed 1st in Science and 23rd in Mathematics
  • Zeke Diaz placed 30th in Number Sense and 43rd in Mathematics
  • Emily Lozano placed 31st in Mathematics
  • Macy Downs placed 32nd in Calculator Applications
  • Madalyn Franklin placed 34th in Calculator Applications
  • Emilee Martin placed 35th in Calculator Applications
  • Krista Hix placed 19th in Science
  • Jennings Taylor placed 18th in Science
  • Angel Lozano placed 3rd in Science
  • The Science Team placed 5th comprised of Carson Earnest, Angel Lozano, Jennings Taylor, and Krista Hix.

TMSCA events were coached by Timothy Carter.
