(KCBD) - Federal authorities are cracking down on businesses that advertise bogus cancer treatments.

The FDA has sent letters to 14 companies that sell their products online or through social media, claiming their products prevent, diagnose or even cure cancer.

But the FDA says consumers should know that none of the products has been reviewed to determine if they work or are even safe.

Some are touted as herbal remedies, and the FDA warns that not only are they unproven, but they could be dangerous.
