LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock Police Department has identified the pedestrian sent to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle on Friday, March 2.

At approximately 6:20 a.m., LPD dispatch received a call that a car had just struck a pedestrian in the 6500 block of the I-27 southbound access road. The driver of the car stayed on scene and called police for help.

Officers located 64-year-old Cyrus Solenberger with serious injuries. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital. As of March 6, he remains in serious condition.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, Lubbock Police Department Accident Investigators responded to the scene. Through the initial investigation, it appears the pedestrian walked eastbound into the roadway and was struck by the car.

Accident Investigators shut down the southbound access road between Highway 84 and 66th Street to map out the scene for their investigation. As of 8:45 a.m., the road has been reopened.

This case remains under investigation.
