SAN ANTONIO, TX (KCBD) - It's become commonplace to see the Nazareth Girls at the State Basketball Tournament. The #1 Swiftettes topped #3 Dodd City 56-43 Saturday morning in San Antonio to win their record 22nd State Championship.

Since 1976, the Nazareth Girls have made 27 State Tournament Appearances and they have won 22 State Championships. No high school in Texas has won more. Canyon is 2nd with 19 State Titles.

Nazareth has been in the 1A State Title Game 5 years in a row, winning 4 Championships.

This one they had to work for as Dodd City led 18-11 but Nazareth went on a 16-4 run to take the halftime lead.

This was a rematch of last year's Championship Game as Nazareth beat Dodd City 48-42 in 2017.

Nazareth finishes the season 36-3 and adds yet another State Championship to their trophy case.

Congrats to Coach Eric Schilling and the Nazareth Swiftettes!
