(KCBD) - Light rain once again has been falling on the KCBD viewing area. Amounts have been light, once again, with only a trace reported so far at the airport. A trace was all that was recorded Monday at the airport.
Locally heavy rain is possible later today, as thunderstorms may dot the viewing area late this afternoon and evening. Outside of the storms, rain intensity will be light to occasionally moderate, but the coverage should increase which will increase the chance of rain across our area.
I don't expect heavy or even moderate rain at all locations. Some spots may end up with a tenth of an inch or so, most likely over the northwestern viewing area. Some spots may see around two inches of rain, most likely over the southeastern viewing area. Other spots, a quarter inch to three-quarters inch appear reasonable.
Severe weather is a possibility with the storms later today, mainly over the southern viewing area where the ingredients for marginally severe storms will come together. The main threat in the late afternoon and early evening will be hail, transitioning to severe wind gusts as the evening progresses. Any severe weather threat is likely to move out of our area after that.
Occasional rain showers should linger through at least tomorrow morning, perhaps afternoon, but the greatest potential for significant rainfall will be late this afternoon into the early morning hours.
