LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Ahead of the strong cold front, we've talked about all week our day begins with a cool to slightly chilly morning with light winds, but will quickly warm with a breezy afternoon.
The cold front will move from northeast to southwest across the KCBD viewing area this afternoon. I expect it in the Lubbock area around 4 p.m. - if it's earlier my forecast high is too warm, if later not warm enough. As the front blows through it likely will bring some blowing dust. Behind the front, winds will become strong and the air much cooler. This evening will be windy and cold.
A freeze appears likely overnight for much of the KCBD viewing area, with a hard freeze possible for much of the northern half of the viewing area. Those with cold-sensitive plants you want to protect them from the cold. If that involves wrangling some type of cover, keep in mind the strong winds expected.
