Police continue search for car chase suspect

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Officers with the Lubbock Police Department are searching for a suspect who led them on a car chase in east Lubbock.

It was reported an officer attempted to make a traffic stop at around 8:45 p.m. Saturday near the 100 block of Zenith Avenue when the suspect fled, according to an LPD news release. During the chase, the suspect crashed in an alley near 1800 East Amherst Street and fled on foot.

The suspect hit a dumpster, gas line, backyard fence and finally came to a full stop after hitting a tree. He then got out of the car and fled on foot. Atmos Energy was called to the scene Saturday evening but the extent of the gas line damage was not reported.

At the moment the only description police have on the suspect is he is a black male possibly in his 20.

Police are still searching for the suspect and are using a K-9 unit to help investigate. As of Sunday afternoon, police were still unable to find the suspect.
