LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This past week, the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA) held their national training conference in Amarillo.

K9 teams from all across the country competed in patrol and narcotics competitions. In the narcotics competition, officers and their dogs raced to identify drugs in things ranging from cabinets all the way to airplanes.

The Lubbock Police Department was well represented at the event, with six officers and their dogs competing. LPD's top-placing dog was two-year-old Yako, who was third in the narcotics competition and received the Top Gun award for best new dog.

The next highest placing officer was Joe Cook and his dog Enzo, finishing fifth in the patrol competition.
