LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This weekend we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom.
People from Lubbock and surrounding communities gathered at Second Baptist Church to honor fallen veterans on Sunday night.
Medal of Honor recipient Gary Beikirch delivered the keynote address. Beikirch fought in Vietnam, receiving the Medal of Honor for his valor.
Sunday night's service also honored gold star families who lost a loved one, making a sacrifice themselves.
A mobile memorial was also present, the Remembering Our Fallen wall.
It's a photographic war memorial that honors Texas' military fallen from the War On Terror, which began on 9-11, to the present.
It was designed to be able to travel, unlike a traditional brick and mortar memorial.
Designers hope to keep the legacy of these men and women alive by sharing personal and military photos.
Advocates for Gold Star families say their biggest worry is that their loved ones will be forgotten.
