LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Summer heat is returning to West Texas with temperatures back in the 100-plus range by Wednesday for most of the region.

On Tuesday, the daytime highs will likely stay in the mid to upper 90s for the area with enough humidity to provide a chance for some storms. The best area for storm development will be the northeast south plains and along the Caprock. A few of those storms could produce large hail and high winds.

By Wednesday, the thermometer will climb and high pressure will drop the chances of rain for all of west Texas. It will be the high pressure that keeps the rain chances low from the middle of the week in to early weekend. The daytime highs will be above normal but likely below record setting levels.

As for the night time temps they will be slightly warmer and vary from the upper 60s to the low 70s.
