LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Traffic is now back to normal after hazmat crews were called to the scene of a chemical spill near 44th & MLK on Tuesday afternoon.
Hazmat has identified the chemical as hydrochloric acid, a concentrated form of a pool cleaning chemical. They say a 330-gallon tank ruptured at Coty Chemical, 4410 MLK, and spilled into the street.
LFR says the chemical is corrosive but not a hazard unless it comes in direct contact with a person.
The cleanup was completed around 6:30 p.m.
