LUBBOCK, TX (AP) - It remains quite toasty across the area with a few showers and storms possible across the region Friday night.

Some of the storms could become severe, especially west of Lubbock.

There is a risk for large hail and 70 mph wind gusts in the stronger storms that develop.

Models show storms developing across New Mexico Friday afternoon and spreading west across the viewing area Friday evening. Heavy rain and lightning are also a threat.

Lows drop into the 60s and lower 70s. Storm coverage should be lower Saturday, but a few storms remain possible with highs in the middle 90s.
