Lubbock man indicted for March shooting in east Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Toddrick Thomas, a 37-year-old Lubbock man, was indicted by a Lubbock County grand jury on Tuesday on a charge of aggravated assault causing bodily injury using a deadly weapon.

Thomas' indictment comes from a March incident in which police were called to the 2000 block of East 30th Street in Lubbock after a shooting was reported.

When police arrived they found a man who was bleeding from the head, according to a Lubbock Police Department police report. The man was conscious and still able to answer questions and said he was walking down the street when a vehicle came up behind him.

One of the suspects came out of the car and began to argue with the victim. A suspect then pulled out a handgun and shot at the victim, then another person came out of the car and began beating him.

Police were also told Thomas helped in beating the victim.

All the suspects fled the scene and Thomas was later found and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on June 11.

He is now held on a $100,000 bond and is awaiting sentencing.
