LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock City Council will vote on a resolution on Thursday to finalize the process of terminating all city responsibilities related to the Lubbock Municipal Auditorium and Coliseum.

Lubbock residents voted on May 5 to abandon the existing structure and revert all ownership to Texas Tech. Now the council must finalize details related to when and how the termination of the current agreement will be done.

If the resolution passes on Thursday it will authorize all necessary actions for the city to abandon the facility effective Oct. 1, according to the official resolution text. The vote will provide a written notice to Tech, notifying them of the abandonment date.

KCBD NewsChannel 11 will have more on this story after Thursday's vote.
