Police investigate central Lubbock shooting, identify victim

Man injured after central Lubbock shooting

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock police officers are investigating a shooting that happened near 22nd and Ave O.

Officers received a call about shots fired in that area around noon.

A person was taken to the hospital by private vehicle at 12:15 p.m. Officials say the person, 28-year-old Michael Baker, was shot in the chest, but the injuries are considered non life-threatening.

At this time, police say it appears there was an argument between several individuals, at which point one of the individuals pulled a gun and began firing, injuring Baker in the process. A nearby vehicle was also struck during the shooting. No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
