LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The heat will be returning to the South Plains beginning Tuesday and continuing through the week. Afternoon highs will climb to the mid-90s today with a few clouds and a slight chance of isolated storms.
Wednesday will see rain chances diminish while the afternoon highs will move closer to 100 degrees in Lubbock. Both Wednesday and Thursday some communities will experience highs at or above 100 degrees over the South Plain.
At the same time, lows will remain between 65-70 degrees for the remainder of this week.
There will be changes by Friday as high pressure moves away from West Texas and allows some increasing chance of rain and cloud cover. The potential for rain will increase by Saturday and Sunday with afternoon high temps that should remain in the low 90s, possibly some 80s.
The rain chances may extend into early next week.
