LUBBOCK, TX (AP) - Lubbock reached 98 degrees on Wednesday afternoon after a morning low of 69 degrees.
We have a slight chance of showers and storms in the forecast the rest of the day and tonight. No severe weather is expected at this time. Showers will be very spotty in nature and will taper off towards sunset. Lows tonight fall into the 60s and 70s.
Temperatures will be cooler Thursday as tropical moisture increases from the east. Humidity values should be much higher Thursday. Isolated storms are possible again with cooler daytime highs in the upper 80's to lower 90's for the immediate Lubbock area. East winds average 15 to 20 mph with higher gusts possible. Rain chances are highest south and east of Lubbock and also across New Mexico to our west.
Rain chances increase again Friday and Saturday with deep tropical moisture in place and a weak cold front invading the area from the north. Measurable rainfall is most likely on Saturday and Sunday.
