LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Crews have announced that they expect Citizen's Tower to be fully completed by July of 2019, and will move in employees by the Fall of 2019.
On Monday, Mayor Dan Pope, Councilman, and other construction workers gave media crews an inside look at the work being done inside Citizen's Tower.
Steve Massengale, Councilman for District 4 says there has been no increase to resident's tax rates, and, so far, they are already $800,000 under budget.
In total, this is a $64 million project.
He says that, "We've worked hard to make sure we can make as much as possible in this building timeless, how it's going to look, how it's going to be furnished, and those things that might be maintenance items that cost money in the future, we opt for things that might not be high maintenance, and that's why you're going to see the polished concrete floors and exposed columns."
Crews are continuing their work to get the building weathered in, installing elevators and fire escapes, and then putting up the curtain walls
Councilman Massengale adds that one of the best features is that residents will be able to find everything they need from city hall in one building.
Construction started last August, and they expect to have construction finished by July of 2019.
