Man admits to starting fire at Lubbock motel

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock man has been arrested and charged with arson after he admitted to officials he started a fire at the Executive Inn at 44th and Avenue Q.

According to Lubbock Fire Rescue, the call came in just before 1 a.m. about the structure fire.

Crews found the fire in the wall cavity between rooms 214 and 215. The fire was quickly extinguished and the Fire Marshal's Office was called to investigate.

The occupant of room 214, 35-year-old Benjamin Moreno, admitted to starting the fire intentionally and was arrested and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Lubbock Fire Marshal's Office at 806-775-2464.

A bond has not yet been set for Moreno.
