Three people have been formally charged in connection to a Lubbock home invasion that left a woman beaten and scared.
It happened on June 19, 2018 in the heart of Lubbock, near 25th and Avenue U.
A Lubbock County grand jury indicted 33-year-old Brandon Keith Johnson, 36-year-old David Robinson and 25-year-old Laquilla Langs on a charge of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony. They are all three being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond each.
Sundey Land reported to police she was laying on her couch in the living room of her home near the 2100 block of 25th Street when two men suspects entered her house and grabbed a backpack of hers. After she got up to get her backpack again she reported to police she lost consciousness and woke up to find one of the male suspects on top of her and hitting her.
"I was on autopilot because I had just woken up and I really don't think I had a complete thought until this was all finished," Land said. "I didn't have time to see whats going on, I just had time to react."
Another female suspect entered the house while she was being beaten and asked what was going on. However, the female suspect did not try and help Land and Land suspected the female suspect was a lookout for the other two.
Land says the three suspects said that there was a list of people they had to kill and she was on it, but she found it hard to believe them since she just believed they were there to steal her stuff. She also says she doesn't think this was a random act since she actually recognized them.
"I don't know if it was the fact if I didn't fight, I would die or if it I was just so pissed off that someone was in my house," Land said. "I am a fighter and I don't know why these people wouldn't meet some sort of stance if they thought they were coming into my home."
Land screamed for help but was told by one of the male suspects that he would kill her if she continued screaming. She was also told by the male suspect, "the higher ups weren't paying the bills and there's a list of people to kill in Lubbock and your on it," according to a police report. Land had no idea what that meant.
A laptop and phone were taken from the home and when the suspects left, Land tried to chase them down but they ran out of her sight.
For things that have to do more than the fact they robbed me like my car was in the shop and they took the money that I was supposed to pay so I am going to lose my car," Land said. "The fact that I don't have those things right now and they are still walking around is what upsets me."
Police were able to find a shirt of one of the male suspects. Police also saw Land was bleeding from her mouth, had several cuts on her body and her right eye was so swollen she could barely see out of it.
