SNYDER, TX (KCBD) - Western Texas College in Snyder is one of the few community colleges to offer courses in wind engineering.

Wind is one of the largest economic and energy drivers in Snyder.

The school offers an array of diverse practical programs, with majors in welding, turf grass management, and an electrical lineman program.

"Western Texas College is unique because of its location," said Stephanie Ducheneaux, Dean of Instructional Affairs at WTC. "It's pretty isolated... kind of out here in the middle of nowhere. We like to keep our classes very small. We like to think that we're very intimate, and we like to think that we put the students first. Everything is always about the student. We want to make sure they get the quality education they deserve."

WTC also caters to online students by offering more than 90 percent of their courses online.

WTC offers tuition waivers to graduates of Scurry County High Schools.
