BROWNFIELD, TX (KCBD) - Agriculture is a priority in Brownfield, and farmers of all ages want a say in what happens with their business in Terry County.
The West Texas Young Farmers Association gives these producers the opportunity to speak out and let Terry County know what's important to them. The President of the organization says it's important to take them seriously, even though they are young.
"We wanted to have our own voice and let people know that even though we are younger producers, we have an opinion and we would like to share what we are facing and how things look for us," Mason Becker said.
The farming community has supported the new initiative and he hopes the organization raises awareness of how important agriculture is to the county.
"We are fortunate to have a good group of young producers here in Terry County. We want to reconnect people with the farm and what we are doing and how important it is, not only to the southern high plains but to the nation," Becker said.
Local businesses are also championing this organization's mission and what the farmers are doing for the Terry County economy.
