LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - 28-year-old Michael Baker was indicted by a Lubbock Grand Jury on Tuesday, charged with the shooting of Steven Montgomery back on July 27, 2017.

The police report says the shooting happened in the 2400 block of Avenue N before noon on that Thursday morning.

The witness said Montgomery showed up at his apartment, and the suspect, later identified as Baker, answered the door with his gun in his hand and punched Montgomery with his other hand.

The witness said Montgomery fled south on Avenue N and Baker shot at him three or four times.

Montgomery later showed up for treatment at Covenant Hospital.

Baker has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $75,000.

Baker was also the victim in another shooting in Central Lubbock on June 25, 2018.

Police said this appeared to be an argument between several individuals, at which point one of the individuals pulled a gun and began firing, injuring Baker in the process.
