Event will raise money for LISD students who are in need of warm clothes

Noon Notebook: Lubbock 'For the Kids' benefit

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The 5th annual For the Kids benefit will kick off Saturday, July 28. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Shack BBQ located at 2309 North Frankford Avenue.

The event will feature a lineup of local bands and plenty of barbeque.

Organizers are raising money to purchase shoes, socks and coats for Lubbock ISD students who may not otherwise have them.

Jere Lowe helps organize the event every year, and says while there is no admission fee, they are asking for cash and check donations to purchase those warm clothes for students.

Lowe said he works with LISD and social services to get the children's sizes. Then he buys new shoes, coats and socks and delivers them to the school.

If you would like to make a donation, head to The Shack on Saturday any time between 11 a.m. to 8 a.m.
