(KCBD) - After a morning of gusty east to northeast winds near 30 mph and some showers, Wednesday afternoon has been a warm one with highs back in to the low to mid 90s.
The next chance for storms will come overnight after midnight as storms move into the area from New Mexico and bring the rain potential with gusty winds and lightning.
On Thursday, it will be partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s in Lubbock and near 90 in the eastern south plains. Only a slight chance for afternoon storms tomorrow, but once again the overnight will bring some storms back to the area into early Friday.
The chances of rain will continue from Thursday night into the weekend and cooler temps will settle into the region Friday through Sunday.
Highs will drop from the low 80s Friday to the upper 70s on Sunday.
