LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - The venue tax will go to a vote on the ballot in November so Lubbock County residents can decide the issue.
That was the vote Monday in Lubbock County Commissioners Court, allowing the people to decide.
A non-profit organization has recommended a 2 percent increase in the hotel motel tax, money that would be used to build a dirt arena, since the Municipal Coliseum has been given back to Texas Tech and is destined for demolition.
Lubbock County Commissioners emphasize that taxpayers will not see an increase in taxes. This only involves visitors to the Hub City who stay in Lubbock hotels and motels.
