LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The City of Lubbock has completed what it calls the 98th Street Paving Project, a thoroughfare that will open up near Quincy Avenue and 98th Street.

The project began in February and has transformed a dirt road near the area into a $3.25 million roadway, according to a news release from the city. The new roadway will be open after a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. Friday.

"The paving of 98th Street between Milwaukee and Upland Avenues is an important transportation improvement that was badly needed," Rany Christian, District 5 councilman, said. "The project provides Lubbock drivers with better public access, improved public safety, and it improves drainage for this corridor."
