LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Tech System Board of Regents will meet on Monday and announce the interim system chancellor.
The board is expected to announce Tedd Mitchell, current president of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, as the interim chancellor according to a source who went on record on the condition of anonymity.
The current chancellor, Robert Duncan, suddenly announced his retirement Monday, sending out a letter of intent to all the system. Duncan's retirement will effective Aug. 31.
Mitchell is the eighth president of the HSC and has been in that position since May of 2010. Prior to coming to the HSC Mitchell was the president and CEO of the Cooper Clinic in Dallas.
He is an alumnus of the University of Texas Medical Branch where he received his doctor of medicine degree in 1987.
