Texas Tech professor appointed as Library of Congress astrobiology chair

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Bruce Clarke, a Paul Whitfield Horn Professor of Literature and Science at Texas Tech, has been appointed as the Baruch S. Blumberg Chair in Astrobiology for the Library of Congress.

Clarke will be in a residence at the Kluge Center in Washington D.C. for 10 months beginning in December, according to a Tech news release. There he will work on a project called, "Astrobiology, Ecology and the Rise of Gaia Theory," which should provide a model for understanding viable conditions on Earth and the detection of life on other worlds.

This chair position Clarke has been appointed to is a collaboration between the NASA Astrobiology program and the Library of Congress.
